Croeso i fflwyddyn 5! Welcome to Year 5!
Welcome to our Year Five webpage.
Please visit regularly to keep up to date with all our year group's news.
Hello Year 5! We hope you all had a lovely Easter break!
All your Year 5 teachers are looking forward to beginning our new topic this term and really looking forward to starting a brilliant new way of working on Seesaw!
Soon you will all have your own code for accessing Seesaw at home and that means you will be able to check out your weekly Year 5 activities and then upload your work for your teachers to see!
It's going to be a great way of working!
Please ask your parents to check the School App this week.
There may be some important information about your Seesaw code.
Our new Summer Term Topic - The Tudors
Take a look at the portrait of the man on the right hand side of the page - who do you think he might be?
This portrait is of King Henry viii and he was a member of an important royal family called the Tudors.
Why do you think they were an important family? When did they live? Who were the members of this family? What was life like if you were a member of this family? How did it compare to the life of other people during this time?
Let's see if we can find the answers to some of these questions (and lots of other questions!) throughout our topic work!
Our new Topic Homework grid has been added below.
See how many different activities you can do during your time at home. It would be great, then, if you could begin to upload your work/creations/models onto our class Seesaw pages.
Please find below a link to year 5's Egyptian homework grid.
There is also a Key Stage 2 grid of ideas for pupils and a list of story starters to use whilst they are at home.
Weekly Spelling tasks
Each week you will receive your new spelling word family. Your Spelling Tests will take place every Monday. Please remember to take home your Home Spelling practice sheet on a Monday and practise your spelling words daily.
Reading Book Bags
Each week you will have the opportunity to select a book to take home in your Book bag. Please read and enjoy your book at home and then return to school to be exchanged for a new book. We will usually change books on a Friday but it will be possible to change your books throughout the week during Reading sessions.
Our PE/Games lessons will usually take place on Monday or Tuesday. Please ensure that you have your PE kit with you on both these days.
Your PE kit will be suitable footwear, a t-shirt and shorts or leggings.
It will be important to have suitable footwear in school for our daily 15-Minute-Fitness sessions also.
Monday - Skip-a-thon
Tuesday - Jogging
Wednesday - Go-Noodle/Dance activities
Thursday - Mindfulness
Please remember that we are a Healthy School and we try to bring only healthy snacks to school for our morning break.
