Croeso i Flwyddyn Pedwar!
Welcome to Year 4!
Please visit our Year 4 web page regularly to keep up to date with the latest news and information.
Hello Year 4 and welcome back after the extended Easter holiday. We hope you have been having lots of fun with your family and enjoying the lovely weather. We are missing you lots and are looking forward to when we can be together again. We have added some new ideas for you to work on at home. Remember to take care and stay safe.
This half term we are going to continue to work on our topic 'Here Come the Romans'. The children had begun to learn so much about this time in History, especially after our fabulous school trip to Caerleon. We shall be finding out about some famous people and how they lived in the past, what they used to wear, used to eat and how they used to travel. Some great art work linked to this era was the 'mosaic' and its detailed patterns.
To begin this term - can you find out about Julius Caesar?
Look and record any key facts / Important events / facts about his family / other interesting information
Learning from home
Some good websites to support your learning can be found on the KS2 grid of activities on the link below. Remember to complete your Roman homework activities as we shall be looking forward to hopefully seeing these. There are many ideas to support Literacy and Numeracy as well as other curriculum subjects.
Book Bags / Reading
Please continue to read with your child at home, it is so important to read both fiction and non fiction books and to encourage your child to talk about what they have read asking questions to develop this further. Oxford Owl currently have a variety of ebooks that children can read, you just need to register to access this great resource.
Set your child challenges with high frequency words and every day words to keep up with your child's reading, writing and spelling skills. Maybe you could add some tricky words in as well!
We understand the difficulties of the current situation at the moment but we would still encourage physical activities that you and your child can do at home. There are lots of fun activities online and also, if possible, outdoor activities and games you can all take part in safely together.
Our 'Here Come the Romans' homework has a variety of activities for your child to compete. Please see the link below for a digital copy of the homework sheet.
Please find below a link to Year 4's Roman homework grid.
There is also a Key Stage 2 grid of ideas for pupils and a list of story starters to use whilst they are at home.
