Welcome to Year 1!
Croeso i Flwyddyn 1!
This term our topic is Wales. We are going to be exploring the castles and landscapes of Wales, including looking at dragons and stories relating to St David and Wales.
Our Literacy will be based around a range of fiction and non-fiction books, where we will develop our reading, writing and oracy (speaking & listening) skills.
We will be focusing on a range of Numeracy skills throughout the term including: reading and writing numbers to 20, counting reliably to 20, exploring double facts as well as calculating addition and subtraction problems. We would appreciate it if you could practise these at home with your children in order to consolidate the skills that are being taught.
PE is every Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child has appropriate kit in school, which is clearly labelled with their name. You can purchase a Holton Primary PE bag from the school office. Kit is to be kept in school and will then be sent home at half term.
Homework will be sent home every Friday. This will be your child's spelling words for the test the following week and some Learnits (simple addition). Please practise these with your child each night in preparation for the test on Friday. Could all book bags be brought in by Wednesday at the latest, in order for the books to be changed.
Can we also remind you that £7 snack money is due every half term.
Thank you for your continued support,
