Welcome back!

Check out the video for our classes on Seesaw and see you next week.

Incy wincy spider climbed up the waterspout! Why do ladybirds have spots? Why do spiders spin webs? It’s time to find out about minibeasts and their habitats.

Magnifying glasses clutched firmly in hands, look under logs, leaves and stones for creatures that wriggle, crawl or fly. We’ll find out about minibeast habitats, features and colours, and compare them.  Can we move like snails? We’ll also move like ants, working together to collect and carry objects to move and rebuild a structure, piece by piece. To get to know these creepy crawlies better, we’ll make and monitor minibeast hotel and a butterfly garden. Can we predict what will be these minibeasts’ favourite foods?

We’ll retell stories, and write a story from the perspective of a minibeast of your choice. We’ll predict and count ladybird spots and compare the lengths of caterpillars and make caterpillar patterns. Getting creative, we’ll make minibeast finger puppets, and learn to waggle dance like a bee.

Second grid of activities- Enjoy!

Book Bags

Please continue to enjoy books with your children to read at home. Here are some suggestions that will help your child to read.

  •  If able, encourage your child to say the initial sound of a word. Do not ask them to do this for every single word.
  • Text less books are an opportunity for the children to talk about the pictures and make up a story. This is also fine for books with words.
  • Most importantly enjoy these stories with the together and let their imagination run wild.

Reminders:

  • Snack money due start of each half term
  • P.E. kits needed for lessons every Friday
  • Reading bags to come back on a Monday
