Reception

Welcome to Reception!

Croeso i Dosbarth Derbyn!

Snack money is now due for the current half term, please pay £7 in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Please remember to bring in a cardigan or jumper (clearly labelled with your child’s name) as we are working with the doors and windows open as much as we can to keep a good flow of ventilation.

As we are currently unable to do P.E or send books back and forth please keep bags at home for the time being but we will let you know when we can resume!

This Half Term

During the this half term we will be starting a topic based on winter called Snow and Ice. The topic provides a great starting point for observing similarities and differences and talking about changes in the world around us. It is also a good way to introduce other climates and cultures, with a focus on the North and South Poles.

Initially we will continue to work on the sounds from the first half term so please practise these at home as much as possible. The next set of sounds we will be learning is c, k, b, u and f. The next handwriting sheet will be sent home in the next few weeks.

Last Half Term

During the first half term of the year Reception have been exploring all things Autumn! We have been very creative by painting autumnal pictures with sticks, acorns, leaves and our fingers! We have practised our cutting by creating spooky Halloween faces, spiky hedgehogs and crinkly trees. The Autumn topic has provided very enjoyable and interesting experiences for the children, which they have really enjoyed!

We are very impressed with how well the children have started to learn the initial sounds. We are continuously reinforcing these sounds with daily reading and writing practise. The sounds we have been over so far are: m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o. If you would like another handwriting sheet, which was previously given out, please ask your child's class teacher.
