Year 2

Last term's topic was 'Towers, tunnels and turrets' which the children really enjoyed. They explored castles, towers and bridges across the world. We would like to thank everyone for their fantastic homework projects.

This term's topic links well with last term's as we explore 'Cardiff Tales'. We have started the term off with a trip to Cardiff to engage the children. We did lots of walking on our trip and were able to see Cardiff Castle, Bute Park, the animal wall, City Hall, the Museum and observe a busy day in the city. Over the term we will continue to look at Cardiff and its buildings and the interesting stories it holds.

We have attached a copy of this term's homework sheet for you and the children. We ask that all children complete at least one of the activities. Can all homework projects be in school by Monday 11th February 2019.

Towards the end of this half term we will start activities related to St David's Day, which will include a home craft competition.

Please join our Year 2 twitter page to see what we have been up to!

In Foundation Phase the children are provided with snack. Please send in £7 each half term in an envelope marked with your child's name.

Book Bags

The children are encouraged to read books at home and are asked to regularly return their books when they've completed them. We change reading books on a Friday. Please ensure that all books are returned in the school book bag.

In Year 2 we will be having P.E. every Monday afternoon. Please can you ensure that your child has suitable kit in school clearly labelled with their name and that it is returned after every half-term holiday.

Every Monday your child will be given a set of new spellings that relate to the book that they are working on, which they will be tested on on the following Friday. We encourage the children to learn their words every day.
